    Summary

The Bayer Fund (formerly known as the Monsanto Fund) strengthens the communities where Bayer customers and employees live and work. Their primary focus is to address families in under-resourced areas within the communities served, with an emphasis on children. Bayer Fund's charitable giving strategy has a strong alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. They provide support to eligible nonprofit organizations with innovative programs.

Current programs of the fund are:

    • Food and Nutrition: The Bayer Fund accepts grant proposals for high-quality food & nutrition programs that address malnutrition by helping to ensure access and use of nutritious foods. Projects might include community gardens, food distribution programs, and nutrition education.
    • Education: Support for general educational programs and programs focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) that offer innovative approaches to teaching or learning and which foster student achievement. We give priority to programs that use evidence-based methodology.
    • Health & Wellness: Awareness. Education. Prevention. These are three key tenets of Bayer Fund's investments in health and wellness. With a focus on cancer and cardiovascular disease, they provide resources to organizations dedicated to educating and/or providing services to patients, caregivers and at-risk populations.
    • Community Development: The community development programs they support target grades K-12, under-served students, and under-resourced communities.
      • Youth Development – Programs that take place outside of the regular school day which provide students in grades K-12 with opportunities to enhance their skills and interests through exposure to STEM fields
      • Performing Arts - Programs that support education of young and emerging artists, or provide access to live productions of dance, theater and/or music
