    Summary

    The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation provides funding to improve the quality of life for residents in the city of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson and Orange. The Community Foundation focuses its funding on a range of priorities, including: health, environment, arts, education, and human service. 

    Community Endowment Fund provides grants that:

    Enrich the community - supports a wide range of activities that keep the community vibrant and strong, 

    Strengthen community systems - supports programs that strengthen the formal and non-formal systems that are the fabric of our community, or that help individuals or community groups to access those systems; and

    Shape futures for residents - Starting in 2016, the Community Foundation will introduce ‘Shaping Futures’ grants to support programs aimed at effectively delivering proven interventions in order to achieve measurable outcomes for identified community groups or population segments in the local area.:

  • Eligibility Details

    Grants are made to tax-exempt public charities under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and to government agencies. Grants from the Community Endowment are limited to projects in the Foundation's service area. This includes the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Greene, Fluvanna, Louisa, Orange and Nelson. 

    Deadline Details

    Applications for Enriching Communities grants must be submitted by October 1, 2015. Applications for Strengthening Systems grants are accepted on a rolling basis. Applications for Shaping Futures grants will be available in 2016.

    Award Details

    Award amounts vary. 1 to 2 Strengthening Systems grants are anticipated to be made for FY15.
