CJD is accepting applications for specialty problem-solving court programs that seek to address the underlying issues or diagnoses of offenders in an effort to reduce recidivism and save valuable time and resources for the criminal justice system. The types of court programs eligible under this funding announcement include:
Existing specialty court programs must annotate in their application how the additional funds will expand the program beyond its current capacity. Priority for applications received from new applicants may be given to courts operating in jurisdictions without a currently operational court or based on demonstrated need.
Grant funds may not be used to support the unallowable services, activities, and costs listed in the Guide to Grants and:
Eligible applicants are county governments affiliated with a specialty court. Specialty court programs operated by community supervision and corrections departments, juvenile boards, or other agencies must be submitted under an affiliated county government, but the authorizing resolution may designate an official or employee at that agency as the authorized official..
Applications were to be submitted by February 9, 2023 by 5pm CST. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
Awards are at least $10,000 each. Project periods may extend up to 12-months, beginning September 1, 2023. Cost sharing/matching is not required.
