The Morris and Charlotte Tanenbaum Family Foundation has funded 97 grants to 44 organizations totaling $539,000 over the past five years. Past awardees include: American Academy of Arts Sciences, Emerson College, Fulfill, Habitat for Humanity, Homes for our Troops, Johns Hopkins University, and Newark Museum.
Giving primarily is limited to non profit organizations in New Jersey, with special interest in Essex County. Some limited giving also in Maryland, Massachusetts and New York.
Proposals are accepted throughout the year. Initial approach should be through a Letter of Intent sent to the foundation. If the foundation is interested in your proposal a full application will have to be submitted by July 31, annually.
Award amounts vary based on scope and size of project. Awards are up to $50,000. Most awards are less than $5,000.
